Welcome to the Riverside Parkinson’s Support Group website! Our goal at our monthly meetings is to provide a safe, confidential location for people with Parkinson’s Disease to come, ask questions, and find answers for their disease. We encourage family, care partners and care givers to attend as well, ask questions, and provide input on what works or doesn’t work in the real world of caring for a Person With Parkinson’s (PWP).
No reservations are required. Just show up!
Every community is comprised of a variety of people with various ailments. It is just a part of life that as we age, the likelihood of a disease or medical condition affecting us or our loved ones is bound to happen. Parkinsons’ Disease is a neuro-degenerative disease that causes mobility difficulties, balance problems, abnormal involuntary movements, and difficulty with important life functions, as well as affecting cognition and emotional stability.
Our meetings consist of providing a wonderful place for PD patients and caregivers to voice their concerns and provide support for each other. Several times each year there are speakers, such as neurologists and guests who provide informative presentations with fantastic question and answer sessions. Discussions have included areas of concern such as nutrition, exercise, medication, and deep brain stimulation. We also have a wonderful library of books related to Parkinson’s Disease as well as Caregiving that you can check out each month. Feel free to bring any books that you would like to donate so others can enjoy them and learn.
The Riverside Parkinson's Support Group proudly provides two seperate meetings each month to assist those living with Parkinson's Disease, as well as their family members, better understand PD and share their experiences.
The Riverside Parkinson’s Support Group, led by Zack Earp, meets on the third Tuesday of each month at the Janet Goeske Senior Center located at 5257 Sierra Street in Riverside, California.
Meetings are from 1 - 3 p.m. Please check in at the front desk upon arrival for assistance in locating the room we are in that day.
If you would like to email us with your questions for either of these monthly events, or have any other questions or comments, fill in the form below and we will respond as soon as possible.
- LIVING WITH PARKINSON'S BREAKFAST -
Our second monthly event is the Living With Parkinson's Breakfast, which is held the second Tuesday of each month at Kountry Folks Restaurant located at 3653 La Sierra Avenue in Riverside, California. This is off the 91 freeway at La Sierra Avenue. Each person purchases their own breakfast and shares comraderie with other people with Parkinson's disease.
The group meets at 10 a.m. and ends around 11 a.m. This meeting is for Parkinson's patients only, not their family or caregivers. If you are driving a loved one to the breakfast, you are welcome to sit at another table and enjoy a good book and a cup of coffee or tea or chat with another caregiver who is doing the same.
